About Slouching Hound

I began making collars in 2009 after my new lurcher pup decided to slip his leather buckle collar and cause havoc around our local park… I was more than surprised to be left holding a lead with collar attached but no dog! Luckily he was ok.

This is when I discovered the Martingale dog collar a collar specially designed to stop this happening.

With my background in fashion I dusted off the sewing machine and decided to make my own martingale collar.

Things progressed to me testing out many different webbings, trims and hardware to eventually find the best quality safest yet affordable products for my collars.

I can vouch for these myself as I use them everyday on my own 2 hounds Alfie the fawn whippet x grey and Boyd my little blue rescue whippet.

Sales of my collars took off with people impressed with the quality and price so I set up the slouching hound website where I could combine my passion for drawing and show off my Art skills by offering commissioned pet portraits along side my collars.

I never thought that 8 years later i would be blessed with running my own business which although gets very bust at times is never dull.

My days are spent sewing collars or painting your beloved pets, sourcing new fabrics and trims from around the world or researching the latest trends to keep your hounds in style. I feel very lucky to be able to work from home which means i get to spend all day with my dogs and my family.
